Custom Domain Connection
Connect your own domain name to your NovaStores storefront for a professional, branded online presence.
Connect Your Custom Domain
Your NovaStores storefront can use your own custom domain name (e.g., www.yourbrand.com). This makes your store look more professional and is easier for your customers to remember.
How to Connect Your Domain
- Go to your store's General Settings.
- Ensure you are on the "Identity" tab. This is the default tab.
- Scroll down to the "Custom Domain" panel.
- In the "Your Custom Domain" field, type your full domain name (e.g.,
shop.mybrand.comormybrand.com). - Click the "Save Domain" button.
- Once saved, a "Required DNS Configuration" section will appear below the input field. This section shows two records you need to add.
- Log into your domain provider's website (like Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc.) where your domain's DNS settings are managed.
- Add the CNAME record shown in NovaStores. This record tells visitors how to find your store.
- Add the TXT record shown in NovaStores. This record is used to prove you own the domain so a secure (HTTPS) certificate can be issued.
- DNS changes typically take a few minutes to update, but can sometimes take up to 24 hours to take effect globally. NovaStores will automatically detect when your DNS records are correct and activate your domain.
Important Notes
- Premium Feature: Custom domain connection is available on paid NovaStores plans. If you are on the free plan, you will see a "Premium Feature" banner and the field will be disabled.
- Root Domains (Apex Domains): If you use a root domain (e.g.,
mybrand.cominstead ofwww.mybrand.com), your DNS provider must support CNAME flattening (sometimes called ALIAS or ANAME records). Cloudflare supports this automatically. If your provider does not, use a subdomain likewww.mybrand.com. - Removing Your Domain: To stop using a custom domain and return to your free NovaStores subdomain (e.g.,
yourstore.novastores.ai), simply clear the "Your Custom Domain" field and click "Save Domain."
