Ingredients & Recipes
Know the true cost and real profit of every menu item — stock updates itself with every sale.
Turning it on
Ingredients & Recipes is enabled per store by the NovaStores team. Once active, an Inventory group appears in your store sidebar with three pages: Ingredients, Recipes & Margins, and Movements.
Set up your ingredients (once)
Go to Inventory → Ingredients and add each raw material you buy — for example espresso beans, milk, paper cups. Choose the base unit you want to count in: grams, millilitres or pieces. The base unit locks after the first movement, because all your records are counted in it.
Attach recipes to your menu
Open Inventory → Recipes & Margins, pick a product (or one of its variants) and add the recipe rows — for example: 18 g espresso beans, 150 ml milk, 1 pcs paper cup. The page immediately shows the item's selling price, its recipe cost and the margin between them.
When a delivery arrives
On the Ingredients page, use Receive on the ingredient. Enter the quantity (you can type in kg or litres — it converts automatically) and the total amount you paid from the invoice. Your average cost re-blends on its own, and every margin on the Recipes page updates at once.
Selling
Nothing to do. Every confirmed order — online, counter or mobile — deducts the recipe amounts from your ingredients in the background. Items without a recipe are simply skipped, so regular products are never affected.
Counts, waste and the ledger
- Adjust → Physical count: type what is actually on the shelf; the difference is saved as a variance.
- Adjust → Waste: record spoilage so it shows up in your numbers.
- Movements is the full history of every change, filterable per ingredient.
If an ingredient shows a negative quantity, sales were never blocked — it is a signal to go count that ingredient and enter a physical count.
